I've actually done this before, but I'm really off my rocker and doing it again. For some reason.
Please throw anything at me! I would LOVE to talk about characters endlessly.

Pick a fictional character from a fandom I know and I'll answer the following questions to the best of my abilities:

1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her. Likewise if you dislike the character.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?
4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
6) Is there anything about the character you would change?
7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how do you see yourself interacting with him/her? (Would you get along well? Fall in love with? Dislike? Friendly rivalry? etc etc)
8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?
9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about (if you dislike) to someone whose new to the fandom?
10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?

Urrrr okay so this is super-late & self-serving, but

Mad Men, Peter Campbell PLZ

Oh god, it's an old meme but the love is fresh and alive. I'll have it for you ASAP!

1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her. Likewise if you dislike the character.
I love Pete intensely, while acknowledging all of his faults. He's...strangely helpless and vulnerable in a way no one else around him is. I actually wrote an essay about masculinity and Mad Men and included bits and pieces of Pete's emotional inability to fit in as a man. And the truth is, he never gives up, and he's open to change. It's a very bizarre mix, makes him seem real, and it helps that Vincent is a damn show-stealer when it comes to portraying him!

2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
Yes, thank god! And after that finale, all the more so...HOORAY!

3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?
It's hard for me not to feel gripped by his childish selfishness, honestly. It's about more than just unseemly fits and bad behavior...he wants a real family, and he deserves it, and he hasn't gotten it yet...so he has to figure the world out on his own, little by little.

4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
Getting more and more on my good side day by day!

5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
I...am pretty sure I would give any pairing with Pete a fair chance. If it's written well, I'll believe it and love it. So whenever he's in any kind of close or romantic situation on screen, I'm all eyes and ears. (That said, he and Trudy have just been the cutest THING.)

6) Is there anything about the character you would change?
He's doing it already! Granted, I do think he needs to continue growing up (and match Trudy's maturity), but I trust the writers to make it happen!

7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how do you see yourself interacting with him/her? (Would you get along well? Fall in love with? Dislike? Friendly rivalry? etc etc)
In all honesty (because I thought it over, go me), Pete is exactly the type of guy I would seriously go for, so.

8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?
Pretty securely! He's my favorite character in Mad Men, and Mad Men is getting to be one of my favorite fandoms, so, pretty high up there!

9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about (if you dislike) to someone whose new to the fandom?
No, I wouldn't - not because he doesn't deserve it, but because everyone should get the opportunity to pass their own judgment. I know a lot of people who intensely dislike him!

10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?
I...think so, yeah! Uh, as popular goes, right?

Oh God, thank you for much for this response. Pete is my favorite male character in MM (just behind Joan for fave character overall), and you're very right about his "emotional inability to fit in as a man." I just finished watching the season finale, and I am BEYOND stoked to see where Pete's character goes after this, especially with the Peggy/Trudy factor (i'll admit to screaming when the two women in his life shared the screen). How awesome is it that Trudy is getting more airtime? I chortled at her "I'll just change the sheets" and calling out, "Peter, can I speak with you?"

Also, because I'm a nerd, I *seriously* go back and forth on whether I'd like Pete in real life -- I think I'd probably end up harboring a gentle affection for him and treat him like a younger brother.

It's no problem, it was a ton of fun to write! The writers are so evil, in a way, since we're going to have to wait months and months for the new season, and when it DOES start it's going to start out slow just like the others did...but I'll hang in there for what they're promising! Trudy was SO FANTASTIC wasn't she?? And there was something so perfect about the last line she has in the episode..."I know how you boys and girls get..." The entire situation is just so snug and cozy. If it weren't for the desk Peta and Peggy would be bumping knees - how fun is THAT.
