You know, I'm in South Park for the bitches. I really am. I didn't think I was going to get affected by all the political issues that, it would seem, get thrown around willy nilly. But this is a little scary. I mean yeah it's scary to think that Matt and Trey might actually be in physical danger, and I hope they're being careful, but it's scarier what the media and Comedy Central is doing to not only censor their work, but add oil to the fire. I was actually really shocked at how much fucking bleeping was going on at the end of episode; I don't have cable and I usually watch the episodes uncensored on South Park's website. Because of the censorship, this one isn't available, so I had to hunt down a ripped version.

Wow. Really? Maybe it's just the shocking contrast from always watching the episodes uncensored, but REALLY? If they had just left it alone, it wouldn't be a big deal. No one cares or notices Super Best Friends, and Matt and Trey are only getting stubborn about this because they've been faced with this irrational, fear-based, "thou shalt not".

I don't think what they're doing is stupid at all. I think that the enemy they're fighting - censorship - is really frightening. Especially since CC seems not to be afraid of just what might offend extreme Muslims - but the very message itself that we shouldn't BE afraid. What. The fuck.

Seriously. What the fuck.

Matt and Trey, two men that have bigger balls than most.

Big enough to bounce around on, maybe.

I truly love those guys, and I could tell the network got all pissed off cause Part B of the 200th episode was just... SUCKED... when Part A cracked me up so hard.

but I love these guys because they are so real! They say it how it is and if you don't like it? Too bad.

Really? I actually liked part B a lot more, I just got really really weirded out when suddenly the "learned something today" speeches were gone. It's not like they were saying fuck over and over again, Matt and Trey made a statement on their site that the speech was, in fact, about not giving in to intimidation and fear. Which is what the whole Cartoon Wars thing was about in the first place and you think that people would have calmed down by now, but it seems to have gotten worse.

I also really love them for what they do and stand for. The very fact that they refuse to try and please everyone means a lot. I don't think they're trying to be edgy just for the sake of it, either, they're so well-adjusted and laid back.

No one cares about Super Best Friends because the episode was aired before the controversy was even aired.

Why leave alone? Why should Muslims, in all their violent history, be allowed to dominate with fear?

Errr, before the controversy around the danish comic and I think before 9/11 for that matter...

It's true, and Super Best Friends (as stated) still runs re-runs. Matt and Trey aren't poking fun at Mohammad or even playing with the forbidden - they're more playing with the fear involved, and getting a lot of people pissed off only because they are BEING censored. If CC didn't treat it like a sensitive issue and let it fall under the radar, like in Super Best Friends, there would BE no controversy in the first place.

It's not really Muslims I'm worried about - every religion has scary extremists and I'm sure that there are a lot of Muslims rolling their eyes at this. It's the network's paranoia and censorship that worries me.

CC didn't treat it like a sensitive issue though. The episode aired, some muslim issued a legal death threat, and THEN cc began to make a big deal out of it. Actually, if anything I think CC tried to stuff it down the drain while everyone else getting heated up over it made a big deal about it.

The problem with Islam, and I'm reaching this conclusion slowly, is it is still one of the few religions that ENCOURAGES people to KILL over insults to their religion. What does Jesus teach? Turn the other cheek. What does Moses teach? They're gonna burn in hell, fuckers. What does Mohammed teach? DEATH TO THE INFIDELS!!!11 Yeah, all religions suck and I can't stand Christianity more than any other religion, I would rather sympathize with terrorized muslims, but I didn't seet he catholics issuing death threats over south park.

Plus, the thing with this whole controversy is just silly. You're absolutely right that the episodes are an attack on Muslims' inability to take a joke, and not on Islam itself. Why can't Muslims themselves be made fun of? This is just ridiculous. Even by their tenants they are NOT authorized by their deity to commit the slaying of the infidels matt stone and trey parker. It's absolute nonsense.
